1. Introduction
This Privacy Notice for California Job Candidates (this “Privacy Notice”) describes how Mixpanel, Inc. (collectively with its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, “Mixpanel,” “we,” “our,” and “us”) handles personal information about California residents who apply or are recruited for a job with Mixpanel. This Privacy Notice describes our practices in the recruiting and hiring context currently and during the past 12 months. See our Privacy Statement for information about our practices when you interact with us offline or online in the same manner that a website visitor or someone who is not a job candidate may interact with us.
For purposes of this Privacy Notice, “personal information” and “sensitive personal information” have the meanings given in the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (as amended from time to time) (the “CCPA”).
This Privacy Notice does not create or form part of any contract for employment or services.
2. Categories of Personal Information We Collect
In each case as permitted by applicable law, we collect and process the following categories of personal information during the application and recruitment process:
- Identifiers, which may include name, preferred name, postal address, unique personal identifiers, device identifiers, telephone number, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, Social Security number, driver’s license number, passport number, date of birth, signature, physical characteristics or description, state identification card number, or insurance policy number.
- Characteristics of protected classifications, such as race, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, medical condition, ancestry, genetic information, disability, citizenship status and military or veteran status.
- Please Note: We only collect this information if you voluntarily disclose it and as permitted by applicable law, and we will not use this information to make hiring decisions.
- Online activity, such as browsing history, search history and information regarding your interaction with a website, application or advertisement.
- Geolocation data.
- Sensory data, such as audio and visual information that we may obtain if you use video interviewing as part of the application process. If you visit our facilities or facilities in which we operate, your entry, exit and actions in or around those facilities may be monitored by CCTV.
- Professional or employment-related information, such as employment history, job application or resume, references, information about skills and abilities, accomplishments and awards, and training and development information.
- Education information, such as education history, education records (such as grades, transcripts and class lists) and other information included in your resume or cover letter.
- Inferences drawn from other personal information, including any information referenced above to create a profile reflecting preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities and aptitudes.
- Sensitive personal information which may include for example:
- Social Security information, driver’s license, state identification card, or passport number;
- account log-in, password, or credentials allowing access to an account;
- precise geolocation;
- racial or ethnic origin;
- religious or philosophical beliefs;
- union membership;
- genetic data;
- Biometric information, which may include imagery of the iris, retina, fingerprint, face, hand, palm, vein patterns and voice recordings, from which an identifier template, such as a faceprint, a minutiae template or a voiceprint, can be extracted, and health or exercise data that contain identifying information; and
- Information about your health, sex life, or sexual orientation.
